If you are in dire need for some new food spots you can look no further. My list has no specific guidelines as to food types or dining styles they are just my five favorite places to eat. I'll make a specific list soon but for now enjoy your new favorite eateries! But what I will tell you this list contains is a variety of a little bit of everything including Mediterranean, Japanese, Italian, Subs, and pizza with a twist that comes from all around the world. (I love all of these places equally numerical order is in no effect of how they taste)
1. 786 Degrees
This compacted pizzeria located in Sun Valley is the best pizza I've ever had. Their take on pizza is much different than any other pizzeria I have been to because they use creative toppings that tribute to different countries all around the world from Istanbul to Mexico and even Egypt and many more! The pizza speaks for itself when you try it you can taste that an awarding winning chef like the owner Ali Haider is behind this work. My go-to order from here is the Habibi which features lamb/beef mix and an Egytian yogurt, and Istanbul which has chicken shredded donor kabob on it as well cucumbers and Turkish yogurt.. I usually order one for each person you are going to eat with because these pizzas are Neapolitan style meaning that they are tender ,light, and moist at the same time. Good luck trying to share!
2. Rococo Ramen
I used to drive all the way to Melrose area in LA to get some good ramen but that was before I found out about Rococo Ramen located in Granada Hills. If you like pork, and you love spicy, this is my hands down favorite ramen shop. When I come here I order the Spicy Tonkotsu Pork Ramen which is so very delicious. I've tried many other places before and believe when I say I haven't gone anywhere else. Are the appetizers good too? You bet, it has the best spicy edamame I've had anywhere else along which the pork bun and spicy gyoza. The service here is really good the atmosphere is excellent as well and the food has never taken super long to come like most places do and it is always HOT.
3. DeFranko's Submarines
Are you tired of Subway, Jersey Mikes, and Quiznos, is it still a thing ? There are many small deli shops in the valley but none of them come quite as close to the king in my book like DeFranko's Submarine Sandwiches in Van Nuys. This small and I mean really small deli has been in the business since 1974. Their quality is second to none, are you tired of those dead pickles, tomatoes, and onions in your sandwich. You will never have that problem here. You see I used to like my subs plain, that was before I started to come here. When I come to this intimate deli I get the Meatball Sandwich with Cheese or the Cold Cuts. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
4. Antonio's Tacos and Kabobs
Now you might see tacos in this businesses name. But I am not here to talk about those. I am here to talk about their delicious Mediterranean side of this restaurant. I have never personally tried a taco from here not to take anything away from them its just that the kabobs are so good I don't want to get anything else when I come here. Located in the heart of Pacoima this gem in the wall not to be confused as a hole in the wall deserves all its flowers. When I first came here I was skeptical about getting kabobs from a place that also had tacos next to it in the name but oh was I wrong. They have some of the best beef lule and rice that I have had. You cannot forget about the cucumber yogurt as well and the side of grilled onion if you like onions. Other orders I also get from here are the spicy chicken and the regular beef kabob.
5. Forma
If you know me then you know Italian is my all time favorite type of food. So you can trust me when I recommend something Italian. This deep roots restaurant is some real authentic Italian food. Made by two Italians they were both veterans in the hospitality industry, Executive Chef Piero Topputo and General Manager Mario Sabatini. With their star ingredient in mind formaggio is how they came up with the name. Located in Santa Monica, this is the the perfect place for date night, either your significant other or your taste buds doesn't matter they with both be overly satisfied. You may have seen on social when places mix the pasta in the cheese wheel Forma is one of those places when you order a pasta from the Dalla Forma part of the menu. My personal Favorite here is the Tortellini which features mushrooms, light cream, truffle oil tossed with Bella Lodi cheese. Another killer here for me is the Fettucine Bolognese which has beef ragu’ - tossed with butter in Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. There is a wide variety of authentic dishes I still have yet to try but I have yet to be disappointed. Some killer appetizers here are the Roasted Gnocchi and Charcuterie board.
Forma
I hope you enjoyed my delicious food roster and I didn't get you too riled up to try them. Let me know what you think, have you tried any of these places before. Let me know some of your favorite food places! Enjoy!
